Band to Watch: Case Work

It’s about this time of year when life requires something refreshing. Be it a cool breeze, a hoppy beer or a dip in the pool, the summer sun has been beating down for just a little too long for my liking.  I need something to remind me that summer is more than just weird bugs flying around, ridiculously high electric bills, and sweat filled clothing.  And just as I was about ready to break, Sanford, Florida’s Case Work, aka Chandler Strang, appears, offering respite.

Featuring three recently released tracks somewhere in the realm of a cocktail of between Surfer Blood and Real Estate, Case Work brings a breath of fresh air with his beachy vibes.  “Amazon”, the most recently released track, features some catchy guitar hooks and harmonized “Ohs” during the chorus with just the perfect amount of rough edges.  “With You” is an airy jam that conjures up images of a setting sun as I drive with the windows down.  Of the three, it’s by far and away the most relaxed and seemingly effortless.

The final single entitled “Slow (down, start living more)” is a fast paced smattering of jangly guitar pop at its best.  In all, the early work of Chandler Strang represents the perfect amount of “coloring outside the lines” combined with genuine talent.  Hopefully, we’ll have an EP out slowly, but for now you can tide yourself over with this trio of tracks.  Enjoy.
