Video: WATERS “Mickey Mantle”

by @thoughtontracks

It is no secret that one of my favorite new projects going right now is Van Pierszalowski’s WATERS. The band’s debut release Out in the Light has grown in popularity amongst my fellow music junkies and still gets significant spin time in my rotation.  WATERS is also responsible for one of my favorite live sets of this year when they supported Delta Spirit in March at Radio Radio. Those in attendance will not soon forget the energy of their performance and the connection they were able to make with the crowd.  During the final song Pierszalowski jumped in the crowd and performed an unplugged version of “Mickey Mantle”, the last track on the album. This move certainly won Indianapolis over on the new project, and has forced me to listen to Out in the Light all the way through in order to relive this fantastic concert moment.

WATERS helped to extend my affection for this track when they released an unbelievably awesome video for “Mickey Mantle” late last week.  According to their Facebook page, they wrote, shot, and edited this video in 48 hours using stop motion.  I am not a huge music video guy, but this is one that grabbed my attention.  Enjoy the video and do not miss your chance to see WATERS come back to Indianapolis to support Nada Surf on June 23 at Deluxe. Grab your tickets via MOKB Presents.
