Video: Waters “Mickey Mantle” (Bus Session)

by @thoughtontracks

The best songs are generally great in any format. The Beach Boys classics would have been just as palatable with the band’s original five members blasting out pitch-perfect harmonies on a beach-side boardwalk, as in the studio with  a symphony at their disposal. By the same token, Nirvana proved that their heavy grunge sound translated to an acoustic environment on their legendary Unplugged in New York album in the early 90s.

San Francisco rockers WATERS recently reaffirmed this theory during a bus session for Indie Ambassador at SXSW in Austin. Below, watch as WATERS performs a stripped-down version of their song “Mickey Mantle.”  The song is every bit as vibrant as the album version. The band recently rocked Radio Radio in support of Delta Spirit. They will return to Indianapolis on June 23rd as the opening act for Nada Surf at Deluxe at Old National Centre.
