Video: Alabama Shakes “Heavy Chevy”

If you have been standing near me any time in the last couple of months, chances are I’ve mentioned the upcoming Alabama Shakes show at Radio Radio on December 14th. Their self-titled debut EP is one of my favorite releases of the year and I could not be any more excited for this show. One of the things that excites me most is to hear what this band will play beyond the four songs on the EP. Well, here’s a new one that I think we’ll probably get to witness. Watch “Heavy Chevy” below:

Video: Dirty Beaches LaundroMatinee Session

Back in September, Alex Zhang Hungtai, known by his stage name Dirty Beaches, visited Indianapolis for a MOKB Presents show at White Rabbit Cabaret. The Taiwanese-born Canadian resident is a multi-instrumentalist known for his unique, genre-bending sound. A month after his show at The Rabbit, the good folks at LaundroMatinee released a pair of videos. All I can say is click play, folks, and prepare yourself for an auditory attack unlike most anything I’ve ever seen. See the rest of Dirty Beaches’ LaundroMatinee Session HERE.

Live & Reel + Daytrotter Session: Andrew Combs

Texas-born Nashville, TN resident Andrew Combs has had a big year. The singer-songwriter’s debut EP, Tennessee Time, has been steadily gaining momentum since its May release. The five songs harken back to the writing of country legends like Hank Williams and Guy Clark, feeling as if they have been staples of Music City jukeboxes for years. Listen to my personal favorite, “Too Stoned to Cry”, below:

In November, Combs offered fans a pair of terrific supplements to his initial release. He recorded a trio of new tracks with our pals at Live & Reel. “Heavy”, “Devil’s Got My Woman”, and “Playing The Part” fall in line nicely with the foundation Combs built on Tennessee Time. Watch “Devil’s Got My Woman” below and visit Live & Reel to see the rest of his session.

The release of Combs’ Daytrotter Session came a few days later. The visit featured a combination of songs from his EP and his newer tracks. Listen and download the full session HERE. Connect with Combs via Facebook | Twitter | Bandcamp.
