Video: We Need Surgery “Time to Unwind”

We Need Surgery is a five-piece band that formed in Seoul, South Korea before recording the bulk of their forthcoming debut LP with Vancouver’s Light Organ Records. Their brand of danceable indie rock has a tinge of disco without any of the requisite cheese. Below is the unofficial video that friends of the band put together for their single “Time to Unwind” featuring skateboarder Dann Gaymer in the role of Tony the Tiger on acid. The globetrotters currently call Tokyo their home and are preparing to tour in promotion of their album which is due out in early spring.

Photos: An Evening with Alabama Shakes

Last week, MOKB Presents brought the Alabama Shakes to town for a sold out show at Fountain Square’s Radio Radio. Local photographer and friend of the blog Matt Beuoy was on hand to capture a few moments from the special performance. The up-and-comers treated fans to 7 or 8 new tracks beyond the four songs from their debut self-titled EP. Matt has a sharp eye and we’re hoping to drag him out to document more shows in the future. Click on the thumbnails to see their full-size. We hope you enjoy!

Fresh Track: Chandelier Ballroom “Theme (to a Star Death)”

One band that I’ve got my eye on heading into 2012 is Bloomington, IN’s Chandelier Ballroom. The band released their debut EP Long Division in September. My favorite track from the release is featured below. I’m looking forward to seeing what else this quartet has up their sleeve. They’re playing tonight at Reggie’s in Chicago with more shows in Brooklyn and Philadelphia in the coming weeks.
