Video: Porcelain Raft “Picture” via eMusic
The folks at eMusic recently teamed up with Porcelain Raft (a.k.a. Mauro Remiddi) for a bit of musical trickery at the expense of some unsuspecting New Yorkers. The team rigged a small speaker at the corner of Mott and Broome that could only be heard when standing in a certain spot. Several cameras were on hand to document the reactions to the sudden blast of Porcelain Raft’s “Picture” from his album Strange Weekend. Check out the results below.

Fresh Track: Monophonics “There’s A Riot Going On”
Monophonics have been supplying the Bay Area with a steady stream of psychedelic funk for the better part of the last decade. The longtime instrumental outfit has recently expanded to include the vocal stylings of keyboardist Kelly Finnigan. The decision is a sound one, and moves the project from your typical horn-driven, Afrobeat groove to something more dynamic. Monophonics will release In Your Brain on Ubiquity Records May 15. Video: Family of the Year “The Stairs”
LA’s Family of the Year released a new video for “The Stairs” this week. Recently signed to Nettwerk Records, the band released their St. Croix EP late last year. Their full length Diversity will drop sometime in 2012, without a definitive release date in place. Band members and brothers, Joe and Sebastian Keefe, are natives of Wales. This helped the band sell out a string of European shows last year and garner attention from major British music outlets like NME, BBC and more. Check out the video for “The Stairs” below.
