Fresh Track: New Build “Do You Not Feel Loved?”
Members of Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem uniting to form a new group in 2012? What’s next…that the recession will be over and people will live as carefree as they did in the 90’s? Well that may be jumping the gun a bit, but I’m sure you get the point. Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem), Felix Martin (Hot Chip) and Tom Hopkins have joined forced to form New Build, the newest and best sound coming out of London at this very moment in time. Earlier this month, the band released “Do You Not Feel Loved” off their debut album entitled Yesterday Was Lived and Lost, which is available digitally to stream and purchase on the group’s Bandcamp page. If it’s the vinyl you want, you’ll have to wait another week for it to ship, but order now as only 1000 copies are available. The track featured in this post is exactly what you’d expect to hear when you read the words “Hot Chip”, “LCD Soundsystem” and “new band” in the opening sentence, and that is fantastic electronic music you’d want to get faded with on a Saturday night. The combo of the two bands is most evident in the beat, with Hot Chip style synths leading the way and LCD Soundsystem’s multi-beat breakdown joining in. As always, listen, enjoy, and share.

Hotfox: Video + SXSW Preview
It comes with great honor for the team at Thought on Tracks to promote one of our favorite bands as they get an opportunity to cement themselves in influencer’s minds during the SXSW festivities in Austin, Texas this Friday. Hotfox will take part in MOKB’s Vaya con Tacos 2 (RSVP) that features blog favorites Gardens & Villa, Waters, Father John Misty, and Free Energy to name a few. As the winner of the JanSport contest earlier this year, the band will also headline Sonicbids’ showcase (RSVP) at Maggie Mae’s at 11:30 AM, that same day. I am extremely excited for the Hotfox crew and can’t wait to see what others outside our scene have to say about our local, emerging band. Below you can check out a video for “Sexbitten Dog” from the talented folks at Midwest Underground. This track is unreleased and could be a sneak preview of some of their new work. It was recorded at Hotfox’s recent performance at The Bishop Bar in Bloomington. Get an early feel for what people will be talking about as Hotfox leaves SXSW with what is likely to be a great first impression.

Video: GIVERS Spoof The Wonder Years
Tonight, GIVERS will hit Indianapolis as support for Dr. Dog. The two bands will take the stage at Deluxe, a new venue within The Old National Centre. Yesterday, GIVERS released a video featuring some footage from their current tour. The video, that you can find below, has been cleverly edited to mimic the legendary intro to television’s The Wonder Years. Take a trip down memory lane to the land of Kevin Arnold and Whinnie Cooper.
Tonight’s show is one of my most anticipated of the spring. Dr. Dog’s new album Be the Void kicks some serious ass. It has been a few since I have seen Philly’s finest, and am expecting big things. GIVERS debut release was one that I latched on to in 2011 (See: Review). We were offered ample live footage from a variety of video blogs last year, which leads me to believe that they will be even better in person. There are still tickets available for tonight’s show. Grab yours via MOKB Presents. This ain’t one you will want to miss.
