Fresh Track: Adam Green & Binki Shapiro “Here I Am”

by @thoughtontracks

Yesterday, Adam Green and Binki Shapiro dropped the debut single from their forthcoming collaborative LP. Though this is their debut effort as a duo Shapiro and Green should not be strangers to indie pop aficionados. Green rose to notoriety as one-half of the band Moldy Peaches, before embarking on a successful solo career. Shapiro first gained prominence through her video work with Beck on his 2006 album The Information, before lending her dreamy vocals to Fab Moretti’s 2008 Strokes’ spinoff Little Joy.

The layered vocals and deceptively simple pop arrangement found on “Here I Am” are beautifully crafted. I am encouraged by the fact that Shapiro has reunited with Little Joy producer Noah Georgeson on the release. Listen to the track below, and grab a free download via TopSpin. NYC fans can catch a performance at Le Poisson Rouge on November 5. In the meantime, let’s exhale a collective indie-rock swoon in honor of Binki’s return.
