I was late to the bandwagon when it came to Brooklyn-based psychedelic rockers, Woods. Fortunately, fellow ToT contributor Brett McGrath force-fed me their latest LP Bend Beyond, and I’ve spent the last several months playing catch up on the band’s extensive back catalog. It’s safe to say that I am now a devout convert. Yesterday, Pitchfork.tv debuted the video for “Size Meets the Sound.” The track is buried on Bend Beyond‘s b-side, and wasn’t one that I would have pegged for additional promo. “Size Meets the Sound” is certainly worthy of a second glance, and the video doesn’t suck either. Watch below.
The War on Drugs have been buzzing since the release of Slave Ambient earlier this fall. It brings the team at Thought on Tracks great joy to see Bloomington, Indiana based Secretly Canadian continue to pump out great record after great record. Timing is everything in our world. There could not have been a better time for The War on Drugs to hit the indie rock big screen with their recent spot on Pitchfork.tv
Front man, Adam Granduciel declares that they “pretty much try to approach the live version in the same kind of spirit that the recordings are in.” After a couple months of absorbin Slave Ambient, tonight is Indianapolis’ chance to turn off the record player, get in the car, and head out to Radio Radio. From all of our previous posts and this video I believe The War on Drugs spirit will be alive as they “Come to the City.” Purchase Tickets.
