Fresh Track + Video: Annie Williams “Nevermind” feat. Gabriel Kelley & Robert Hardy
Come on Back to Me is the love child of a trio of Nashville, TN musicians. The five-track effort was released, for free, yesterday. Annie Williams, Gabriel Kelley and Robert Hardy recorded the album in Kelley’s RV on a single microphone. Hardy had this to say in a letter about the project:
We recorded these songs with one microphone, all live, over the course of a month in that RV. We pushed for full takes, lots of mistakes, and honest, real songs made with more love and laughter than I have ever experienced in my life. I don’t regret anything in my life, but I wish I started doing this long ago. Our good friend, Wes Bob, also came over and drank red wine, and then played pedal steel.
“Nevermind” is the only track on the release that features Williams on lead vocals. You may remember her voice from the Live & Reel video that we featured a while back. Check out the trailer for the album and stream “Nevermind” below. Download a free copy of Come on Back to Me via Bandcamp.

Video: Hogslop String Band “Cumberland Gap”
The work week is all down hill from here folks. This is the best video you will see all week. Fuck it. It’s Monday, and we all need a bit of joy in our life. I give you Nashville, TN’s Hogslop String band. This 7-piece, traditional outfit began as an impromptu square dance band back in 2009. The seven members, who originate from all over the country, quickly gained a loyal regional following. They are currently on tour with Annie Williams, whose Live & Reel session was featured in a recent post. Watch below, as Hogslop gives new meaning to the term “driving music.” This is just entirely too much fun. I believe Williams is riding shotgun as the band offers a rollicking version of “Cumberland Gap” from their 2010 debut Hogslop String Band, Vol. 1. Visit their website where, for a limited time, their two albums are available for FREE. With inspiration like this, you’ll be ditching work for a road trip by lunch time.

Fresh Track + Video: Annie Williams
Each month, our friends at Reel Recording put out an installment of Live & Reel sessions. Only a few sessions under their belt, this crew has yet to put out anything less than sensational. For December’s installment, meet Annie Williams. To this point, Williams has proven an artist that wastes no time. She released her first full-length album in March of this year. In November, she released 11 more tracks on two separate releases entitled Midnight Window and This Mountain. Originally from St. Louis, the bulk of this material was recorded while Williams bounced around, gigging between Wyoming and New Mexico. Listen to “Sam’s Song” below and watch “Cold” from her Live & Reel session.
