Video: Hogslop String Band “Cumberland Gap”

The work week is all down hill from here folks. This is the best video you will see all week. Fuck it. It’s Monday, and we all need a bit of joy in our life. I give you Nashville, TN’s Hogslop String band. This 7-piece, traditional outfit began as an impromptu square dance band back in 2009. The seven members, who originate from all over the country, quickly gained a loyal regional following. They are currently on tour with Annie Williams, whose Live & Reel session was featured in a recent post. Watch below, as Hogslop gives new meaning to the term “driving music.” This is just entirely too much fun. I believe Williams is riding shotgun as the band offers a rollicking version of “Cumberland Gap” from their 2010 debut Hogslop String Band, Vol. 1. Visit their website where, for a limited time, their two albums are available for FREE. With inspiration like this, you’ll be ditching work for a road trip by lunch time.

Video: Yuck “The Base of a Dream is Empty”

This is when it gets really fun for me.  When a local project brings in an up and coming act that I truly adore.  Our friends at LaundroMatinee were so kind to bring in one of my new favorite bands Yuck when they rolled through Indianapolis and rocked Radio Radio in October.  This session was recorded at Lovebird Recording.  Check out their song “The Base of a Dream is Empty,” which can be found on their deluxe release that dropped on October 11.  Plans are still tentative for Yuck in 2012, but we can only hope for more touring and well-spent hours in the studio. After seeing this video, I am confident that they will not disappoint.

Video: Yearbook Committee “Tall Trees”

Yearbook Committee is an acoustic-driven, folk band from Terre Haute, IN. They released their debut album Sing Till You Die last March. Yearbook Committee is a commune of a sound, with each member carrying equal weight. The band is in the midst of a Kickstarter Campaign in hopes of releasing their sophomore effort prior to heading to SXSW later this spring. Watch the video for their song “Tall Trees” below. If you like what you see, contribute to the cost of their new album. It will make you feel good.
