Fresh Track: Villa Kang “Hallucinating Arkansas”
I hope you spent your leap day well. I spent mine walking under ladders, shattering mirrors, and howling at the moon amongst other activities. I didn’t really understand the grand obsession with the 29th of February that was rampant over my social media feeds, but alas, it’s March now and we in the Midwest can focus on the arrival of nice weather and leaving our collective winter caves. The one thing that made my Wednesday all the better was getting a listen of a new track from Toronto’s Villa Kang. “Hallucinating Arkansas” samples Memoryhouse’s “To The Lighthouse” along with a David Bowie interview with a glitched-out heavy electronic vibe. There’s some heavy, early Washed Out sound comparison here, and that’s a very good thing for Mr. Kang. You can head over to his website to grab a free download of a two track sampler featuring this song and b-side “Radio Dada.”
