Fresh Track + Video: Tomorrow Tehran “Places In Your Head”

Below you will find a free download and video for the new track “Places In Your Head” by Tomorrow Tehran. The shoegaze pop project is the brainchild of Portland’s Brandon Mahrt. In June, Mahrt plans to take his talents from the Pacific Northwest to Chicago. “Places In Your Head” is the only material from the project thus far, but represents an encouraging start. The sleepy, guitar-driven track showcases Mahrt’s understated vocals. The video features clips from French director Francois Truffaut’s 1957 short film “Les Mistons.” Keep your eyes peeled for more from this project as it descends upon the Midwest. We will be listening.

Tonight: Milagres at MOTR Pub

Just a quick heads up to all of Cincinnati that Brooklyn based Milagres will be making their second stop in our great city in the last half year tonight in a return show to the MOTR Pub.  The band released their highly underrated debut LP Glowing Mouth in September of last year and has been touring in support since.  As I’m sure many of you will be taking a holiday on Thursday for Opening Day, there’s absolutely no reason not to get the most out of your day off and check out this great show on Wednesday night.

Below you can check out their hit single “Here to Stay” being performed live courtesy of great alternative rock radio station WFUV at Fordham University.  Shows usually get going between 10 and 11, and as always at MOTR, are FREE.  So come out, grab a great tasting, hoppy beer and celebrate spring.  See you there Cincinnati.

Video: Youth Lagoon “Cannons” (Live at Radio Radio)

Last night, when the rest of the country was busy watching the insufferable John Calipari and his Kentucky Wildcats cruise to their eighth national championship, a few lucky Indianapolis residents filled Radio Radio to hear Youth Lagoon and Porcelain Raft. The concert was one of the spring’s finest. I was particularly impressed with the sound quality of Porcelain Raft’s set – no small feat for an artist who relies heavily on vocal and synth loops, reinforcing my belief that Radio Radio offers the best acoustic experience that Indy has to offer.

Boise, Idaho native Trevor Powers followed up by treating the crowd to a set that delivered upon the raw emotion and energetic restraint of his debut LP, The Year of Hibernation. Fortunately for any absent fans, Indianapolis video guru Daniel Arthur was on hand to document. Below you will find Arthur’s video of “Cannons”, a personal favorite and a version that raised the temperature of the jam-packed venue. Enjoy.
