Blue Moon Revue: New Video + Album Release Party
Indianapolis’ Blue Moon Revue released a hot new video for the track “Lil Momma” off their latest release Phases today. The eye candy comes courtesy of local video gurus Monkey Eats Monkey. The band will be playing at Radio Radio tonight for their 5th Annual Holiday Extravaganza. In the past, BMR has filled up venues in the Broad Ripple area for one of the Christmas season’s best parties. This marks the first time the event will be held in Fountain Square.
This year’s holiday show will also serve as an album release party. BMR is sounding as good as ever at the moment. The band has been steadily sharpening their sound at Alan Johnson’s Static Shack Studios. Johnson is a seasoned studio veteran, who is responsible for Bob and Tom’s extensive catalog of albums. On top of recording and mixing Phases, Johnson has had BMR rehearsing into the wee hours for weeks. The hard work and long rehearsals should make for a terrific show at Radio Radio tonight. Cover for the event is $6, or $3 with a canned food donation for Gleaners Food Bank. Fellow Indy natives Genius Johnson will be on hand to lend support. Come out and support great local music tonight, and witness a band that is coming into their own.

Band to Watch: Fever Blanket
The Indianapolis music scene evolved this year. Bands like The Bonesetters, Sleeping Bag, Hotfox, and Dreamers of the Ghetto helped put Indianapolis on the indie rock map and I am proud to see the city continue to see expand its footprint on the scene. Just when I thought I was closing the books on this year in music, I stumbled across local band Fever Blanket. This group released their self-titled EP on December 2nd. If you love surf-pop, then you will love Fever Blanket. Songs like ‘Concrete Beach’ cause me to think that they share the same long board with bands like Surfer Blood. Another stamp of approval on a new Indianapolis band that will help you coast into winter. Listen to Colorado below, and download their EP for free via their Bandcamp page.

Photos: An Evening with Alabama Shakes
Last week, MOKB Presents brought the Alabama Shakes to town for a sold out show at Fountain Square’s Radio Radio. Local photographer and friend of the blog Matt Beuoy was on hand to capture a few moments from the special performance. The up-and-comers treated fans to 7 or 8 new tracks beyond the four songs from their debut self-titled EP. Matt has a sharp eye and we’re hoping to drag him out to document more shows in the future. Click on the thumbnails to see their full-size. We hope you enjoy!
