Video: Dan Deacon “Guilford Avenue Bridge”

dan-deacon

Bombastic is one way to describe the electro-infused auditory attacks engineered by Dan Deacon. The first 1:30 seconds of his latest video feel something like the earth shredding in an organized fashion. The video for “Guilford Avenue Bridge” features time-lapsed footage, culled from Deacon’s fall tour. The road warrior is set to kick off a European tour in February before returning stateside in March for a string of dates alongside Animal Collective. “Guilford Avenue Bridge” is featured on Deacon’s most recent LP, America, released last year on Domino Record Co.

Video: Woods “Size Meets the Sound”

woods

I was late to the bandwagon when it came to Brooklyn-based psychedelic rockers, Woods. Fortunately, fellow ToT contributor Brett McGrath force-fed me their latest LP Bend Beyond, and I’ve spent the last several months playing catch up on the band’s extensive back catalog. It’s safe to say that I am now a devout convert. Yesterday, Pitchfork.tv debuted the video for “Size Meets the Sound.” The track is buried on Bend Beyond‘s b-side, and wasn’t one that I would have pegged for additional promo. “Size Meets the Sound” is certainly worthy of a second glance, and the video doesn’t suck either. Watch below.

Fresh Track: Youth Lagoon “Dropla”

youth-lagoon

Dropla” is the debut single from Youth Lagoon’s sophomore LP Wondrous Bughouse. Youth Lagoon is the brainchild of Boise native Trevor Powers. The band hit the ground running with the powerful introspection of its 2010 debut LP, Year in Hibernation. “Dropla” features a busier soundscape than any of the material found on the debut. The song sprawls for nearly six minutes, with the latter half playing largely instrumental, featuring swirls of synths and the repetition of Powers’ chilling hook: “You’ll never die.” At its core, the song remains true to Year in Hibernation in that it centers around Powers’ contemplative inner ramblings. Wondrous Bughouse is slated for release on Fat Possum Records on March 5.
